Introducing our Women Give Back series of volunteer opportunities, designed to empower a community of female trail stewardship.
Starting in 2019 we will be hosting seasonal women only volunteer opportunities to build or maintain some of your favorite trails, led by female trail stewards of the OORC.
These volunteer opportunities are open to members and non-members alike, and a great way to meet other women trail advocates and users.
Our efforts will benefit all trail user groups including hikers, cyclists, trail runners and dog walkers. NO EXPERIENCE necessary. Just wear sturdy shoes and bring gloves and hydration. We will provide the tools and education.
To start the year off, we will be meeting at the Veterans Memorial Park Trail Head at Lake Fayetteville in Fayetteville, Arkansas (behind Apple Blossom Brewing Company) at 9am on Saturday February 16, 2019 to build new trail!
This winter the OORC has identified several areas of the Lake Fayetteville multiuse trail system in need of maintenance, including a redesign to the entrance of the trail at Veterans Memorial Park. The current trail alignment is leading to ongoing erosion issues on the park property and we have the opportunity establish a more sustainable, lasting section of trail.
See you soon!
