Coming off the successful efforts in 2018 in Pea Ridge, Arkansas (The Grove!), the OORC is excited to announce a partnership with Arkansas NICA Student Mountain Biking to host volunteer opportunities this Spring for Student Athletes, their families, and the entire trails community to come BUILD a new beginner-friendly trail at Hobbs State Park outside Rogers, Arkansas.
For the community, by the community!
Project background: Back in 2014, the OORC approached the leadership at Hobbs State Park with the potential to establish a permanent beginner-friendly skills loop at the Townsends Ridge Trailhead off Townsends Ridge Road. Great ideas take time, and with the support of our Arkansas State Parks the OORC and NICA will be constructing the trail this May.
Once complete, State Parks will be purchasing skill-building features and the Townsends Ridge Trailhead will be home to an ultra-beginner friendly opportunity that offers rider progression in a fun and accessible trail!
Important information: Volunteers are encouraged to wear sturdy shoes and to bring gloves and hydration. The OORC will be providing the tools and education for this family-friendly volunteer opportunity to leave a lasting impact for the mountain bike community.
The Townsends Ridge Trailhead is located off Townsends Ridge Road at Hobbs State Park outside Rogers, Arkansas. Heading east from Rogers, take Hwy 12 towards Hobbs State Park and Townsends Ridge Road will be on your right. If you are coming from the south, you may take Hwy 303 through War Eagle to Hwy 12. At the intersection take a left and Townsends Ridge Road will be on your left.
We’ll see you at Hobbs State Park!
