Announcing Kessler Campaign Volunteer Trail Build Opportunities on Kessler Mountain in Fayetteville, Arkansas!
In 2016 the City of Fayetteville approved a trails master plan for Kessler Mountain that included the addition of several trails like Chinquapin, Last Call, and Terrapin Station. Also included in the master planning were prescriptions for improvements of the existing trails.
In 2017 your Ozark Off Road Cyclists secured grant funding to conserve 40-acres of property adjacent to the Kessler Mountain Regional Park. The purchase preserved over a mile of existing trails including portions of Western Myth and Spellbound.
Starting this Spring, the OORC will be hosting volunteer opportunities to complete the identified prescriptions of Spellbound and Western Myth on both park and OORC owned property, including rerouting portions of the trails to establish a more sustainable alignment and minimize erosion. The prescribed improvements will be hand-built, by the community.
Until the most recent additions the trail system had been 100% hand-built by volunteers with the OORC. We are committed to preserving the experience that is Kessler, including the integrity and difficulty of Western Myth and Spellbound throughout this project.
Come play in the dirt with us to support Kessler Mountain and the Kessler Campaign by volunteering to hand-build trail with the OORC!
We ask that volunteers please wear sturdy shoes and brings gloves and hydration. The OORC will provide the tools and education.
If you can’t make the volunteer opportunities but would still like to support the Kessler Campaign donations can be made at www.ozarkoffroadcyclists.org/kesslercampaign
